How to Have a Successful Intervention
If someone close to you has a serious drug problem, an effective way to convince them to get the drug treatment they need is through an intervention. This involves having friends and family confront the person about the seriousness of their problem while giving specific examples of how their relationship with the addict has been damaged and convincing them to check into a drug addiction center to get help.
In order for this to work, it’s important that the intervention is planned far in advance and not done in the spur of the moment. It’s critical for there to be specific steps laid out for the addict beginning with checking into drug rehabilitation, as well as clearly stated consequences of the person avoiding treatment such as loosing relationships with friends, wives and children.
It’s also important to try and plan the intervention for a time when the person is less likely to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, which will make them more clear-headed and likely to listen to what their friends and family are telling them.
