The reasons behind whey’s appetite repressant qualities are due to the fact that the protein is more soluble than other proteins and has high amounts of branch amino acids. These appetite repressant qualities are said to last for 2 to 3 hours after consumption.

When whey was compared with beef, research showed that whey was more effective at reducing weight and fat levels. Further studies on the protein, found that when the protein is consumed before a workout it helps to reduce body fat and increase muscle mass. These studies also indicated that those who consumed whey were more likely to burn fat for longer.
